There's nothing more disappointing than going to the airport to and to find out that your flight is canceled or delayed due to bad weather. The long lines and big crowds even add more stress which just makes the whole situation the worst experience ever. However, airlines have recently issued weather waivers granting full access for passengers to rebook their flights in advance. What's the catch? It's for free.

According to The New York Times, Alaska airlines granted a weather waiver to one of its passengers because of a possible storm that might cancel the flight. The waiver would allow passengers going to or out of the affected destination to make some changes in their flights' itineraries. The process of rebooking the flight would give the passenger full access so there's no need to speak to an airline representative.

More airline companies are also doing the same thing because it really makes things easier for both the airline representatives and the passengers. The airlines could give an advance notice to passengers so they could make changes in their flights at the tip of their fingers.

WKRN reported that weather waivers give different options to ticketholders with regards to their flights. Affected passengers can choose to cancel their flights and get refunds or they could reschedule the flight for another day or reroute via another flight.

However, it's the passengers' responsibility to look for the best time and route or else airline companies would just book passengers on the next available flight using the same route. Also, meals and lodging are not shouldered by airline companies because of delays caused by bad weather. But it's still good news because the expenses are lesser than before with the absence of rebooking fees.

For those passengers who don't know about weather waivers yet, you might want to look into your airlines' website. You can also download apps to make your travels way more convenient.
