Jogger finds baby still strapped to car seat in the middle of woods after it has reportedly been involved in a carjacking on Monday. The eight-month-old baby was left by her mother inside a car at a Houston gas station when the car was hijacked by a male suspect. Fortunately, jogger finds baby crying, but safe and alive while going through the woods early morning Monday.

According to NBC Newson June 24, the jogger finds baby crying and alone in some nearby tall grass and bushes while out for her morning run. KHOU-TV reported that the baby, identified as Gensis Haley, was found on the north side of Houston by jogger Hong Nguyen at about 8 a.m. Monday. The discovery was reportedly made about five hours after an Amber Alert was issued after the child went missing.

In a report by Metro, 34-year-old jogger finds baby during a visit to the country from Vietnam. Nguyen was making her first jog from her trip to the U.S. on that same day when she found Haley. As such, Nguyen was not aware of an Amber Alert the day she found the infant.

According to People Magazine, as the jogger finds baby behind some bushes, she called 911. While waiting for the police to arrive, Nguyen stayed with the baby in order to soothe her from crying.

Nguyen told KHOU: 'I called 911. That's my duty as a human being to do that. I can't believe - it was so scary to see that situation.' After jogger finds baby, the baby was reportedly reunited with her mother.

According to police, the mother left her car running with her baby inside as she ran into the gas station's store to buy a soft drink. She intended to be back quickly but however found seconds later that her car with her daughter inside it was gone. Police said the suspect was able to drive off as the car was still running with the keys in the ignition when the baby's mother went to pay for her drink. The mother tried to follow the hijacked car but was unsuccessful. She also reportedly couldn't get store staff or customers to call 911 for her. At 3:40 a.m., police said they got a call from the mother of the baby reporting the incident. She said that she left the car running as Genesis was sleeping. Though she locked all doors, she left the driver's door open, which made the hijacking possible and resulted in jogger finds baby incident. In the surveillance video, police found the mother looking frantic when she left the car for a couple of seconds.

HPD Homicide Division Officer Shaun Sylvester told KHOU-TV, 'The mother had locked all the doors except for the driver's side door. She told us she left the car running because the baby was asleep. The mother was inside the store for a matter of seconds when the suspect took the car. He was actually in such a hurry he left the driver's door open while he fled.' The car was a green Saturn and it was reportedly found a few hours later, though the baby was no longer inside.

Shaun Sylvester, an investigator for the Houston Police Department said the baby and the car seat were gone when they found the Saturn. Apparently, the man who stole the car only noticed the baby in the back of the car about six hours after the hijacking in north Houston, Texas. Police said he dumped the baby and the vehicle separately, which eventually led to jogger finds baby. Authorities were able to find the car a short time later, just a few miles away from where it was stolen, but the baby wasn't in the vehicle.

According to CNN, a lieutenant from the police said on the jogger finds baby incident, 'I don't know what kind of an animal would do this to a child. It's a good reminder for the public not to leave their vehicles running, especially with a baby inside.' Jogger finds baby in the middle of the woods and she immediately called the police who arrived shortly, about ten minutes after the discovery. Jogger finds baby crying in an industrial park and was fortunately in good condition, however with a few ant bites.

According to reports, one of the policemen to respond to Nguyen's call, who is a father of two took off his uniform shirt and swaddled the baby inside. The baby was taken to a local hospital for evaluation which found her without any further injuries.

HPD Officer Albert Pizana told KHOU-TV, 'Once I saw that she was moving and appeared OK, I took her out of the car seat, held her, and just tried to console her.' After jogger finds baby and Pizana responded to the jogger's call, he and his partner told reporters that they took the baby to their patrol vehicle to try and comfort her. Pizana said, 'Once inside the patrol vehicle, she was still fussy. Being a father, I know sometimes babies like to be swaddled. Since I didn't have a blanket, I decided to use my uniform shirt and that calmed her down.'

Police said that after jogger finds baby and taken to hospital, she is in good health despite being hungry and bitten by ants.

Meanwhile, the carjacker still remains at large on Tuesday and the police are now continuing their manhunt for the suspect who left the baby by the roadside. The police have released a sketch of the suspect and are appealing for witnesses. The suspect has been identified as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, about 5-feet, 9-inches tall.

Jogger finds baby in the woods was a very lucky incident for both the baby and the mother. The event just goes to show that children should never be left alone inside vehicles and that safety should be a priority despite apparently safe neighborhoods.
