Tarry Market, an upscale European grocery store owned by celebrity Chef Mario Batali's B&B Hospitality Group is closing down.

One of Batali's last businesses, the upscale boutique market opened in 2010. Tarry Market is also backed by Bastianich family, whom Batali also partnered with for Italian marketplace, Eataly.

About The Tarry Market

The store is located in the suburb of Port Chester in New York City. According to B&B Hospitality Group's communications director Kim Reed, the space will be transformed into what is now being deliberated as a mix-use project.

Tarry Market is the place to be for people shopping for fine European and local artisanal products. It has a wide selection of delicacies with its La Cucina and Espresso Bar, local produce, pasta, homemade sausage, cured meats, a rotisserie, daily-baked bread, pastry including custom cakes, and focaccia.

Batali's Alleged Sexual Misconduct

The celebrity chef has been disgraced for harassment, groping, and other misconduct by people he has worked with, fans, and even a Tarry Market customer, who stated her disgust with the chef for his behavior when talking about the market's closure.

The customer told that she believes Batali's irresponsible actions had a big impact on the workers of his business.

ABC also ended its connection with him and asked him to take a leave from The Chew, a show he co-hosted since 2011. The termination of Batali's relationship with ABC came after reports of allegations from four women, three of whom were his staff at his restaurants.

One of the women that divulged her experience with Batali to NY Eater said that she introduced herself to the chef 10 years ago at a party, excited with meeting one of the most esteemed people in the restaurant industry. After talking to Batali for a while, she felt that he gave off a creepy aura. Batali even offered her to work for him as a chef for a huge sum.

Along the night, someone spilled wine onto the woman's chest. The woman reported Batali started rubbing her breasts as he groped her chest. The woman was too dumbfounded to say anything and stepped back in utter disgust.

Batali's behavior appears to have been happening for the last two decades. One of his employees reported that Batali groped her and in another incident, forced her to straddle him.

Another employee added that over the course of two years that she has worked for him, he repeatedly grabbed and groped her from behind and held her tight against his body.

Batali has not denied the allegations. In a statement, he said that he is distancing himself from the operations of his businesses for an indefinite period.
