Most people forego traveling because they don't have someone to do it with or they find the idea of solo travel an expensive thing to do. It does have pros and cons but traveling is always a rewarding thing so if you want to travel alone, here are a few tips that you should know first.

Stay Safe

This is probably one of the most cliché tips that you've heard but it's also the most ignored. People forget about safety because of the fact that they travel to seek out adventure. It's not bad to enjoy a little bit of freedom but make sure that you blend in with the locals, avoid being alone, stay away from dark places, and never put valuable things all in one place.

Trust No One

The good thing about traveling solo is that you're forced to meet new people along the way. However, you need to be careful with the ones that you befriend because it's usually those scam artists that are the most likable people you'll meet. According to Independent Traveler, never reveal every detail about yourself and avoid entrusting your valuable things to anyone.

Cheap Accommodations

Unless you get big discounts, stay away from hotels. According to Rick Steves, pensions, hostels or B&Bs are better options because not only do they cost lesser but they also give you opportunities to meet people. Small accommodations mean more chances of talking to fellow guests, staff members or even the owner.

Eating Solo

Eating solo is what most solo travelers hate because you just get so much attention just by being alone. Try to avoid fancy restaurants but rather choose cafes, small diners or bars where people don't really care about each other. Also, bring some reading materials like a good book or something from your handheld devices.

Join A Solo Travel Group

Going solo doesn't mean that you have to do everything by yourself. Join travel groups that cater solo travelers because it would really help cut down your expenses. It's a good way of traveling with other people but still, have that feeling of being alone.

Don't be afraid to do some solo traveling because it's actually fun! Try to take note of these tips and you'll have a memorable trip.
