Traveling does not always have to be expensive or beyond your budget. There are ways to save on traveling and here are top 5 money saving traveler hacks that you will wish you knew all along.

Look for active promo codes and rebates. You can use a browser extension such as Honey to locate active promo codes that you can use for booking plane fares and even hotel rooms, according to Business Insider. The great thing about this browser extension is that once you are ready to pay, you just click the Honey button and it will apply the highest available couple that will give you the best discount. You can also enroll in Ebates, which gives you rebates on your online purchases and this includes travel fares.

Know your credit cards. Find out if your credit cards offer certain travel perks and take advantage of them. For instance, some credit cards offer discounts on certain travels or hotel accommodations. If not, you can also try getting some of those best travel credit cards that will you reward points that you can use for your travels. You can try the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and the likes.

Try booking non-US airlines when you can. Did you know that foreign carriers offer better in-flight amenities compared to US carriers? According to Time, non-airline carriers can even provide free pillows, blankets, hotel towels and usually one to two rounds of drinks. So, expand your horizon and check other airlines that may offer you better travel deals.

Look for services that offer price deals. Try using Trivago, Tripcommon, Airfare Watchdog and CheapAir.com to give you better price deals for your trip. All you need to do is enter your destination of interest and these services will provide you the best available deals online. Some of these offer fare-track alerts and will instantly notify you once prices drop.

Volunteer to get bumped off a flight. If you are not in a hurry or you can afford to miss a flight, this is a great way to earn travel perks and flight vouchers. Most often airlines offer perks for those who volunteer to get bumped off a flight in case there is overbooking of seats. It is possible to ask for cash or flight vouchers. When asking for flight vouchers, make sure to read the fine print and make sure it does not have tons of restrictions. With that being said, make sure that you have a confirmed seat on your next flight and that you will not be on a standby on your next flight.
