It's never too early to plan for summer. Jestar introduced new flights from Sydney to tropical Whitsunday in 2017. And how to best celebrate it? By doing a crazy pre-Christmas sale.

The cheap fares are currently on sale for just $59, but enthusiasts would have to act quickly, since the sales ends at midnight on Thursday December 15.

The new three-times-weekly flight service from Sydney to Queensland's Whitsunday Coast Airport will begin on April 4. Passengers will make the flight to the airport on board an Airbus A320 with the capacity for 180 people.

"The Whitsunday Coast has been compared to the Noosa of 15 years ago, and Jetstar is driving its popularity with affordable flights to the region", Carly Povey, Jetstar Australia and New Zealand Head of Commercial said.

In addition to the new route, flights from Brisbane will increase from seven to ten over peak periods beginning December 13, while year-round flights from Melbourne will increase from three to four per week starting March.

The Whitsunday Coast Airport is the gateway for popular locations like the Great Barrier Reef. The new flights will bring in 170,000 visitors to the region each year, which would mean massive economic benefits to the region, Tourism Whitsunday CEO Craig Turner said.

Meanwhile, TigerAir also announced 55,000 extra seats per year to the Whitsunday Coast Airport, increasing the number of flights from Brisbane and Sydney, Tourism Queensland told Daily Mail Australia.

Queensland Tourism and Major Events Minister Kate Jones said: "We know every extra visitor means more money for local businesses, which supports jobs for locals"

"The tourism industry in Mackay and the Whitsundays is worth more than $3 billion to the local economy, supporting more than 13,000 jobs. We know more than 330 jobs are expected to be created in the local tourism industry in the next five years," Jones concluded.
