The unofficial "moe" mascot of the "ama" or the female pearl divers of the city of Shima, in the Mie Prefecture of Japan, Megu Aoshima and her creators launched a fundraiser for the fans to help them create a promotional anime video. The creators promised the fans that if the fundraiser is successful, they will hear Megu's voice and see her move in a 30-second short which will probably be aired next year in March.

According to the Anime News Network, this particular campaign of the moe mascot's creators is aiming to acquire 4 million yen or about forty thousand dollars, by the end of January. So far, the fundraiser has 244,000 yen, which is roughly about 2,200 US dollars, which is only 6 percent from 21 supporters with only 69 days left.

The creators also guaranteed if the fundraising project prevails, that they will give all the fans that supported them a thank you message image along with a file of the video itself and also, bonus digital content. Fans that helped them by donating more than the base tier, which is 2 thousand yen or 20 dollars, will also get a clear file folder, a poster, a name listing on the website, a protective charm, a hand towel, a character design collection, an extra hanging paper scroll, a well-made mini-figure and a lot more.

As of now, the staff members declared that they still can't announce who the voice actress for Megu will be. They are planning to get someone who has ties with the local area and also someone who can also do a musical act that they will use for the theme song.

It was in 2014, in the month of November, when Shima city unveiled the mascot Megu Aoshima, to honor the local pearl farmers. Unfortunately, the mascot was withdrawn from being the city's official mascot, after 30% of the people complained about the character, mostly the female divers themselves, according to the Japan Times.
