Manga artist Yasuo Ohtagaki's manga "Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt" recently had an anime adaptation, which received great success in Japan and overseas. Although, the anime only showed the early parts of the manga plot, but it looks like a second season will be released soon.

According to the Anime News Network, anime production company Bandai Visual, recently released a trailer of the second season of Gundam Thunderbolt. The upcoming second season will be aired on spring next year. The new season of the Gundam Thunderbolt anime, as stated by Forbes, will also feature the powerful Atlas Gundam, which was shown during the latter chapters of the manga. Atlas Gundam was seen in the recent trailer, which included the tagline, "The war is not over yet..."

The first season of the anime series was aired last year during last year in the month of December, and its fourth and also the final episode of the season, began streaming in April. This anime's story, which is also a part of the famous mecha/robot-themed anime franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam, is set during the One Year War in UC 0079, the same setting of the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. The story follows the intense battles between two ace pilots at a shoal zone called the "Thunderbolt Sector", where wrecks of space colonies and warships are littered.

A director's cut of the first season of the anime series, titled "Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky", is included in the Blu-Ray Disc version of the anime. The version includes additional scenes, released by video company and publisher Right Stuf, along with English and Japanese audio tracks on this year's second day of July.

Yasuo Ohtagaki released his manga in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine back in 2012, during the month of March. The manga was then published on June 24, which contained eight book volumes. Viz Media company publishes the English version of the manga.
