Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting investigation is ongoing as the brutal event Sunday left several injured and one in critical condition. According to the Associated Press, while one was left in critical condition, a total of nine people have also been injured because of the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting.

According to New Orleans police spokesman Frank Robertson, seven others have been hospitalized and are now in stable condition due to the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting. Meanwhile, the current condition of the remaining victim in critical condition was not immediately available. TIME reports that the victims of the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting have been shot two blocks from the historic Jackson Square and near the well-known Pat O'Brien's piano bar.

The Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting happened early morning Sunday at 2:45am and caused a flurry of panic amongst bystanders at the 700 block of the popular tourist street at the time. According to police officials, the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting was committed by 'two cowardly men' who got into a fight.

The victims from the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting have still not been identified. They were taken to a hospital. The victim reported in critical condition was a female, said police spokesman Frank Robertson in a statement.

Meanwhile, the suspects of the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting have still not been caught. 

In a press conference held yesterday by police superintendent Ronal Serpas, he said that though the two men responsible for the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting were not uncaught, he is confident that they will be arrested.

Serpas said, the two young men from the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting were armed with firearms. They reportedly 'chose to settle their dispute with no regard to others. We know more about them than they think.'

WWL-TV interviewed a witness saying that the one of the shooters of the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting appeared to have targeted only one person. Still, the shooter opened fire into a crowd. The witness said, 'Just turned around and he started shooting at the crowd. He seemed pissed off at some dude, pulled the gun out and started shooting at the guy then turned around on the crowd and started shooting at us.'

According to the Daily mail, as Robertson has not reported of any arrest, there are also no suspects identified. He said however that other details of the

Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans pledged on Sunday that a speedy response from law enforcement officers who will handle the Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting. Landrieu said, 'Our No. 1 priority is to keep New Orleans safe,' Landrieu said in a statement issued through City Hall spokesman Tyler Gamble. 'These kinds of incidents will not go unanswered ... I am confident that between video evidence and eyewitness accounts, we will bring the perpetrators to justice.'

Bourbon Street has been known worldwide as New Orleans' most famous street. Along its strip is the perfect mix of jazz joints, strip clubs, bars and restaurants, providing every visitor with everything from fine dining to sex shows.

The street was built on higher ground than most of the city and was spared from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Bourbon Street New Orleans shooting on Sunday is already the third shooting incident on Bourbon Street from three years ago. The last shooting occurred last February on the Saturday before Mardi Gras. Because of the incident, four people were injured. The one before that was Halloween in 2011, where another person also got killed while seven others were injured.
