According to the Defense Department, the 2 Navy jets crash into Pacific on Thursday evening. Both F/A-18 Hornets were operating aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson when they crashed in the western Pacific, according to the Navy.

RT reports that the statement from the US Navy said, "Two F/A-18 Hornets from Carrier Air Wing 17 embarked on the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) crashed at 5:40 p.m. local time, today, while operating at sea in the western Pacific Ocean" when they crashed.

As the 2 Navy jets crash into Pacific, search and rescue teams are still reported to be looking for the second plane's pilot.

Two warships and helicopters were reportedly deployed to search for the second pilot, which were accompanied by a few helicopters. One of the two warships aiding in the search is the cruiser USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), while the other one is guided-missile destroyer USS Gridley (DDG 101).

Up to now, reports say neither of the two jets has been recovered yet.

Meanwhile, according to the New York Times, the Navy said in a statement that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

According to CNN, a spokeswoman for the U.S. 7th Fleet could not confirm for now if the two jets collided with each other and caused for the 2 Navy jets crash into Pacific.

The US Navy statement also clarified that the pilot who was found was quickly returned to the USS carrier Carl Vinson for treatment. He is now believed to be in fair condition.

According to RT, Carrier Air Wing Seventeen (CVW-17) is a United States Navy aircraft carrier airwing that is based at Naval Air Station Lemoore located in central California.

The 2 Navy jets crash into Pacific is not the only accident in Navy jets that has happened recently. Apparently, there were also two other serious naval jet crashes since June. A US Navy Super Hornet jet fighter crashed in the Pacific Ocean off the southern coast of California early this month. At the time, the pilot was able to eject safely.

On the same day but only earlier, a Third Marine Aircraft Wing AV-8B Harrier also crashed, but this time into a residential area in Imperial Valley, Southern California. Though the pilot was able to eject safely, at least two houses went ablaze as the plane crashed.
