Woman escapes crash in Maitland happened on Monday afternoon at Maitland Avenue and Packwood Avenue, reports My News 13. The incident where the woman escapes crash in Maitland occurred as the train was reportedly approaching the Maitland SunRail Station.

According to investigators with the Maitland Fire Department, the woman had just bought the stick-shift car and was trying to shift gears when her car began to stall on the tracks. The video shows how the train conductor braced himself as he saw the car on the tracks. He was unable to stop the train in time to avoid hitting the car, yet amazingly, the woman escapes crash in Maitland.

The police said that the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries while rushing to get out of her car before the 285,000-pound train hit it at 40 mph. She was reportedly struck by debris from the crash as she was moving away from the tracks. No passenger on the train was hurt.

Investigators said the train's speed was about 35 miles per hour when the woman escapes crash in Maitland took place. Florida Department of Transportation spokesman Steve Olson said, "The engineer was braking and braking hard and trying to get that train to stop, but it can't just stop on an instant. A train has a lot of weight."

The28-year-old woman involved in the crash has still been unidentified. First Coast News reports that she was taken to a hospital with relatively minor injuries from flying debris. In the video, one would have thought that even though the woman escapes crash in Maitland, her fate could have been a lot worse.

According to the FDOT, it is taking every measure possible to prevent someone from getting seriously injured or even possibly killed at railroad crossings. News 13 reports that in order to avoid accidents, the FDOT has contracted two sets of Florida Highway Patrol troopers to closely monitor railroad crossings near the SunRail line. The shifts are in the mornings and afternoon peak times.

FDOT said FHP will cite anyone disobeying laws at crossings by doing things such as hanging over tracks, or trying to beat trains.

Woman escapes crash in Maitland and it is apparent that she has been given a sort of second life after the incident. Meanwhile, investigators reportedly said that the incident was the woman's fault. She was ticketed. According to FDOT Spokesman Steve Olson, officials are slightly frustrated that the message to stay off the train tracks has not sunk in with drivers. He said, "We're trying pretty hard to get the message out there. We'll continue to do that."
