NetherRealm Studios has been known to make great video game stories and they plan to continue that with "Injustice 2," which will feature player choices in the game story. The new game will also be featuring new gears to give characters a unique look and make them stronger.

In an interview with Electric Playground, Brian Goodman, a representative of NetherRealm, said that it's not easy to build a story mode into a fighting game. He said they needed to make sure that they are not only telling a great story, but it should also "fit with the dynamics of the game."

But for "Injustice 2" there's one more challenge that Goodman mentioned and that is to provide something new and fresh to the game.\ He said that they are "adding some new elements to the story mode."

He also said there will be "a little more autonomy, some player choice that's built in this game." He said that more information about this stuff will be talked about down the line.

Goodman also mentioned that the end of the story campaign of "Injustice 2" will be "shocking" and that "a lot of people are going to be very intrigued" on how the story will end. But it's not only the story that's going to be new in this game, as a new gear system will be introduced.

Financial Post reports that the new system allows players to upgrade and modify their character's equipment to change their look and to strengthen their stats. Gear equipment will be given as rewards to players after winning a fight.

Players have five pieces of gears to collect and they are the head, chest, bracers, legs, and accessories. These gears affect four character stats, such as strength, health, ability, and defence. Players who are able to collect all five pieces of one gear set will get a bonus.

NetherRealm did say that gears cannot be purchased using in-game or real currency. Community specialist Tyler Lansdown said that all players should be able to naturally earn those gears and not just pay for them to get them.

"Injustice 2" is scheduled to be released on May 16 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Check out the story trailer for NetherRealm Studios' game.
