The possibility that "Girl Meets World" Season 4 will air on TV screens is becoming bleak, but that doesn't mean showrunner Michael Jacobs is already giving up. The challenge, though, is finding another studio or platform that will pick up the series following Disney Channel's cancelation.

In a January interview with The Wrap, Jacobs said that he still has a lot more stories to tell about the show. He said that the story for "Girl Meets World" was set-up until season 4.

"We signed to do four seasons," Jacobs said. He adds that the series should never have been canceled, considering he thought they'd have until season 4 to tell the story.

But sources from Disney said that the show was only contracted until season 3 and season 4 was just an option. Disney also said they considered a lot of factors before deciding not to renew the series for season 4.

Jacobs mentioned that he has been in discussion with other platforms who have shown interest in the show. But one of the possible platforms, Netflix, will not be part of it, as a different report from The Wrap said that the streaming service provider will not be picking up the show.

Though Jacobs is still bent on finding another studio for the show, he'll be content if season 3 was already the show's finale. In an interview with Deadline, prior to the airing of "Girl Meets World" Season 3 finale, Jacobs said that the franchise has been on the air for 25 years and it already provided him with a lot of lessons.

He also said that he already wrote a closure for the last episode of season 3, in case "Girl Meets World" Season 4 is not renewed. He noted that the casts "and the natural stories to tell might have outgrown the venue."

And with no new word or update from Jacobs about the series' season 4, it's a big possibility that season 3 could be the last. Of course, without any confirmation from Jacobs himself, fans can't help but be optimistic that the show will still happen. Check out the last scene of "Girl Meets World" Season 3.
