"The Walking Dead" Season 7 finale will not be the same as the show's other season finales, according to the series' executive producer and director Greg Nicotero. He said the finale, which will air in April, will finally show Rick Grimes in the way fans have come to know him.

In an interview with ComicBook, during the "After the Dead" recap show, Nicotero said the momentum they built in the second half of the season will move forward in the finale. "Seeing where we are now, and these various groups of people, it really builds to a very different finale than we've done in the past," he said.

Nicotero also said that he loved what they did with the series. They used the first half of the season as a setup for what they were planning in the second half and in the finale.

The report said that fans would be able to enjoy the culmination of the "The Walking Dead" Season 7 finale. This is considering that the first half they saw Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) live under the oppression of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Nicotero said the episodes they showcased in the second half is fulfilling the dark the journey that the characters, and likely the audience as well, went through in the first half of season 7.He said that the dark phase was necessary because they were building something in the end, and the finale would be the culmination of it.

Araceli Roach of Screen Rant reports that the way Nicotero describes how "The Walking Dead" Season 7 finale will commence is more likely the style that the audience would prefer. Though the season finale might be what the audience have been waiting to happen, it might not satisfy them or make viewers go back to watching the series.

Nevertheless, Roach said Nicotero is right that seeing your hero, who is down and on the brink, overcome all this odds and emerge victorious is a great feeling. Check out the trailer and preview for "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 13.
