The main villain for "Arrow" Season 5, Prometheus, has already been identified to Vigilante and to the audience as D.A. Adrian Chase (Josh Segarra). But it looks like it would take a while for Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) and his team to know the villain's real identity.

According to a report from TVLine, executive producer Wendy Mericle said the revelation of Chase, who is the alter ego of Vigilante in the comics, as Prometheus is a fun twist that they wanted to do. They wanted to see what kind of story would result if they change the details from what was portrayed in the comics.

She said they wanted something different for "Arrow" Season 5, so they changed who the big bad is and how they would introduce him. Segarra confirmed that the producers already told him what his role would be when he was cast to play the character, Adrian Chase.

Though the audience already knows the real identity of Prometheus, Team Arrow still hasn't and it's likely to stay that way for a while. Mericle said that they plan to "play around that for a little while" before they decide to let Queen and everyone else find out Prometheus true identity.

Segarra, though, promises that it won't be at the end of the season where Team Arrow finally finds out that Chase is Prometheus. "We're going to get to watch the pot get stirred a little bit," the actor said.

Stephen M. Colbert of Screen Rant said that this revelation would have a huge impact on Queen, especially in a season where he has to learn to trust and work with a bigger team. It would a big blow to him to know that Chase, the guy fighting beside him in city hall, is the same guy that's causing trouble in the city and terrorizing him as well.

Colbert said that this surprise reveal of Prometheus' identity shows that the showrunners of "Arrow" are trying their best to move the show in a "more fresh direction," especially with its villains. This reveal will also move the show into providing more details into the background of Chase and why he became Prometheus.

Mericle told TVLine that they will be able to provide some sense of why Chase is so evil and why he is "so bent on revenge." "Arrow" Season 5 Episode 16 continues on March 15, 2017. Check out the promo trailer for episode 16, which is entitled "Checkmate."
