After a long time of waiting, United's new Boeing 777-300ER featuring their Polaris Cabin finally took off on its inaugural flight. The ceremony finally commenced on Monday, February 6, with United Airline's CEO Oscar Munoz, the press, and other VIP guests present in the inauguration ceremony.

The flight was a demonstration of the airlines' new business-class cabin, Polaris. According to According to USA Today, "Each of the lie-flat seats in the cabin includes direct-aisle access - a significant improvement from the carrier's current business-class layout that requires many customers to climb over their neighbors to get in and out of their seats. Other amenities, like Saks Fifth Avenue bedding, have been mostly well-received."

The four-hour demonstration flight took off from Chicago O'Hare to San Francisco. Merely a part of United's publicity blitz, only a handful of several members of the press and other VIP members were included on the flight. United aims for their new Polaris Cabin to gain worldwide attention, providing a much stronger hold in their market before taking on public flights. Their first revenue commenced yesterday, February 16.

United's 777-300ER routes were already announced last December. Between February 16 and May 4, United will operate domestically 6x a week to and fro Newark and San Francisco. This is to ensure all cabin crews and personnel to be fully familiarized with all the SOP's of the aircraft's new business cabin. International flights will start on March 25 between San Francisco and Hong Kong.

United is planning to expand in more international routes as they are only waiting for several other fleets to join the 777-300ER. All of these planes will also be fitted with the Polaris Cabin. On 777-300ER's San Francisco-Hong Kong route, it will replace the old Boeing 747-400s that are now currently taking the route.

When asked about his take on United's new Polaris Cabin, CEO Cesar Munoz said: "It's more than a product. It represents the new spirit of United". And based on the general positive feedback about the Polaris Cabin, that we can all agree.
