Brad Pitt's "World War Z 2" was originally scheduled to debut on June 9, 2017. In an unusual move, Paramount has pulled the movie from the release calendar without providing a new release date.

Production of the movie never got off around in time to meet the deadline, The Hollywood Reporter said. Director J.A. Bayona left the project last year to helm "Jurassic World 2," and a replacement director was never selected, forcing Paramount to remove the movie from the schedule.

"World War Z" earned $540 million globally, and so, a follow-up was highly anticipated. The prequel itself faced problems from the beginning, and there were even extensive rewrites and reshoots, and a six-month production delay. The production cost ballooned to $200 million. Some reports say that Pitt and director Marc Forster clashed while filming, but despite all the drama surrounding the movie, it still turned out to be a massive hit.

According to Variety, an insider said that Paramount is hoping to release "World War Z 2" in 2018 or 2019. The same time of the announcement, Paramount said that Darren Aronofsky's "mother!" starring Jennifer Lawrence will open this fall.

Meanwhile, the long-developed "Friday the 13th" reboot was also reportedly cancelled. Paramount announced that the movie, which was originally scheduled for October 13, 2017, was also pulled from the previously announced release date. Recent reports suggest that the film will focus on Jason's childhood and his overbearing father - which sounds like a really interesting plot. Fans could only hope that this is only a delay, and not really a cancellation of the movie entirely.

Paramount did not offer up a timing for when "Friday the 13th" will grace screens as well. Aronofsky's 'mother's!' October release date is the same date when "Friday the 13th" was originally slated to premiere.
