The Nintendo Switch is the brand new handheld console hybrid that was recently announced. Switch is finally making its hands-on debut in New York at a private event on January 13, 2017 during a five-hour event of Nintendo.

Nintendo's soon-to-be-released console will be followed by a live broadcast presentation taking place on the evening of January 12, which the company has referred to as its "Tokyo Webcast." The broadcast will provide more details about Switch, which Nintendo has been pretty silent about since its first trailer last month in October.

In an earlier announcement by Nintendo, which was reported on Polygon's website, the Tokyo presentation will be held exclusively for the media and investors. The company is said to reveal the retail price and the exact release date during the said event. Up until now, the only information divulged regarding Switch is that it is slated to be released sometime in March 2017.

No other announcements have been made regarding the exact location of the New York event or what games will be released as launch titles for the highly anticipated handheld. However, many fans and industry insiders speculate that we will be seeing the likes of Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Bethesda's highly popular open-world RPG Skyrim on the Switch. An earlier report from Business Insider also revealed that Nintendo plans to ship at least 2 million Switch consoles on launch day.

It is also unknown if the select few who have been chosen to attend the event are investors or members of the media. Some have even speculated that a few lucky people might get invited by taking part in some special promo offered by the Nintendo World Store, which also happens to be located in New York City. The Switch will mark Nintendo's seventh major home console release. Instead of using optical discs, the Switch will be using flash ROM cartridges just like the Nintendo 3DS.
