Julian Jones suicide - The Monday incident occurred with Hazel Green star and defensive end Julian Jones being pronounced dead, according to AL.com and other Huntsville-area sources. Madison County coroner Craig Whisenant confirmed to Alabama.com that Julian Jones' suicide was the cause of death.

The Julian Jones suicide tragically resulted in the state of Alabama losing one of its top football players and a promising career dreadfully cut short.

Jones, a standout defensive end from Hazel Green High School, is also the youngest son of former NFL player and Alabama A&M University football coach Anthony Jones.

After Julian Jones' apparent suicide, he was found dead in their home in Meridianville, Ala. Monday morning. According to the Daily Mail, at the time, he had been in the process of choosing which college scholarship to accept.

Friends of the young football player expressed their shock and condolences over Julian Jones suicide via Twitter. His teammates and fellow football players in Huntsville area also took to the social media site to vent out feelings of grief, reports AL.com.

As of the current moment, the reason for the Julian Jones suicide remains a mystery, especially as the teen appeared to have everything going for him.

At six-foot-five and 230 pounds, he is considered one of the top-20 overall football prospects in the state's Class of 2016, reports USA Today. He was also ranked as the 16th best junior in the state of Alabama, according to 247Composite rankings.

Prior to Julian Jones' suicide, the teen was already given a host of scholarship offers from Mississippi and South Carolina and Auburn.

Matt Putnam, Hazel Green's football coach, also expressed his admiration for the football star in an interview with AL.com. Putnam said at the time that he is anticipating Jones to turn out as one of the team's primary leaders in the 2014 season.

"He grew up in football. He understands the game really well. He's athletic, big and long. He's 6-5, 6-6. He loves the game; he's a good leader," said Putnam.

"He'll be a junior next year and he's already taken over pretty big leadership role on the team. He's the kind of kid you wish they all were like," he added.

On Monday, Putnam had no choice but to break the news of Julian Jones suicide to his team at practice.

Although he did not respond to an AL.com request for comment, he took to Twitter Monday evening to offer his condolences to the Jones family.

"The entire Trojan Family is devastated by the loss of Julian. Our love, thoughts & prayers go out to his entire family. He will be missed," wrote Putnam on Twitter.

Alabama A&M University also released a statement on Julian Jones' suicide and passing.

The statement read:

"The Alabama A&M University family is saddened to learn of the passing of Coach Anthony Jones' son, Julian Jones."

"Losing a loved one is always difficult, but the loss of a child is extremely difficult. Having spent a decade at the University, Alabama A&M University still embraces the Jones Family as members of our AAMU Family."

"We extend condolences to Coach Jones and his family and that you keep the Jones Family in your prayers at this most difficult period."

Meanwhile, Josh Duncan, the minister of students at First Baptist Church, organized a place where grieving students and Hazel Green residents can find support.

Julian Jones suicide, like any other suicide, is a tragic and sad ending to a potentially promising future. Jones will now never get the opportunity to play multiple different positions in college, a thing he told Rivals in July that he was interested in. He reportedly wanted to return to South Carolina to play college football.
