While it may not be Rome or Paris, Amsterdam has its fair share of delicious food that makes it a must-visit destination for foodies. You can't go to Amsterdam and not try the stroopwafel, poffeterjes, and of course, the herring. But there is one particular food that has gone wildly viral on TikTok that has travelers and locals alike waiting in long lines.

Believe it or not, it's a cookie.

This particular cookie is sold in a cookie shop known as Van Stapele Koekmakerij. Located in Rokin 17, this cookie shop isn't all that big and can be pretty easy to miss. However, what is hard to miss is the long line of curious, excited customers waiting to get their chance to order this famous cookie.

If you're a fan of dark chocolate cookies, Van Stapele Koekmakerij's cookie is right up your alley. However, if you like white chocolate as well, the cookie has a melted white chocolate center. It's very much a chocolate lover's delight.

You can expect a cookie that's crisp on the edges but still soft and gooey in the center. This very cookie gained popularity on social media, particularly on TikTok, and many have asked if it's worth the hype and the long wait.

The answer to that? If you love, love chocolate cookies with a sweet surprise, it is worth the long time spent in line.

We've mentioned how Van Stapele Koekmakerij has gone viral and therefore, you'll have to expect long lines. The staff of the cookie shop does have a system in place, so make sure to follow their directions and not cut in line.

The cookie shop does not have any tables and chairs inside, so dining in is out of the question. All you have to do is go in, place your order, wait for your cookies, and leave once you have them.

They're best eaten warm, but if you'll be unable to do so, the packaging of the cookies do come with reheating instructions. And yes, the instructions are in English. Make sure to follow the steps provided to best enjoy the cookies from Van Stapele Koekmakerij.
