Sitting on a plush chair overlooking a pristine beach may be the dream vacation for some people. However, those who prioritize fitness and sports crave for something else that will get them moving.

Whether travelers love cycling, surfing, running, snowboarding, CrossFit, yoga, or any type of activity that gets their adrenaline pumping, here are a few places that will make any sportsman's vacation dream come to life.

San Diego Skate And Surf

The warm heat of the sun in San Diego makes it a must-visit for adventurers. Whether people love BMX biking, mountain biking, hang gliding, and of course surfing and skateboarding, San Diego will never run out of things to offer sports enthusiasts.

Home to famous skateboarder Tony Hawk, also known as "The Birdman," skateboarders can practice their tricks at any of the area's world-class skate parks. For people who want to try to catch a wave or improve their surfing skills, they can head over to San Diego's surf spots.

If they want to take a break, tourists can visit the California Surf Museum located a bit north in Oceanside to see the iconic surfing culture of the area.

Visiting baseball enthusiasts will also enjoy Padres' Petco Park, considered as one of the country's best baseball stadiums. This stadium is one of a kind due to its beach and palm trees outside its center field.

Crete, Greece For Swimming

For water lovers who get their adrenaline going by swimming 3 miles in the open water every day, Crete, Greece will serve as their Mecca.

Also known for its clear and blue waters, prepared to be challenged by chilly seas of the Mediterranean. People who want to be part of a group can sign up at SwimTrek who offers swimming tours based in a remote coastal village named Porto Loutro, where they can also hike to see the stunning view of the ocean from above.

Great Wall Of China Marathon

Runners who take part in the marathon are expected to encounter missing steps or loose stone in the course. Participants can either choose to do a "fun run," or a full or half marathon depending on their skills.

Although snacks and water stations are scattered throughout the area, it is not for the fainthearted. Temperatures can reach up to 40°C since it is usually done in May.

Ciudad Perdida (Lost City), Colombia For Trekking

Although trekkers are expected to hike this spot in humid weather, they will be rewarded by an amazing journey that will take the through Colombia's lush tropical rainforest that is rich in biological wealth.

Don't worry, a spectacular view of the ruins of Teyuna will reward its trekkers at the end of the hike.

Lake Placid For Skiing

Travelers who are into ice skating, skiing, or bobsledding will surely find home in this winter wonderland.

Only a five-hour drive from New York City, people can enjoy this spot which hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics.
