It looks like HP is now ready to take on the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, and probably its upcoming successor the Microsoft Surface Pro 5. The company has refreshed the Spectre x2, putting in high-end specs to allow it to compete against Microsoft's 2-in-1 hybrid device.

According to a report from PCWorld, the second generation of the HP Spectre x2 is a welcome distraction from the aging Surface Pro 4, especially for people who are waiting the arrival of the Surface Pro 5. HP's latest 2-in-1 hybrid looks better than its competitors in terms of features and pricing.

One of the biggest changes that HP made with its latest 2-in-1 is the processor that they used. The company now uses Intel's 7th-gen Kaby Lake processor, giving people the choice between the Core i5 or the i7 instead of the Core-M based chips.

The HP Spectre x2 also uses the Iris Plus graphic version of the Core i5 and Core i7, giving people better graphics than its predecessors. Plus, with 64GB of DRAM, the Iris Plus would have an advantage over the standard HD graphic devices.

As for the RAM option, people will have a range of up to 16GB of LPDDR3 and an SSD that has an option of up to 1TB PCIe. HP also revamped the screen size of the Spectre x2 to 12.3-inch and a 3000x2000 resolution screen.

Windows Central reports that the HP Spectre x2's screen is a significant bump from the 1920x1080 resolution that its predecessor has. The 3000x2000 is also the same resolution screen on the Surface Pro 4, allowing the Spectre x2 to properly compete against it.

The Spectre x2 also brings back the U-shaped kickstand, which can now be pulled out manually to make it easier for people. It also has a 13-megapixel camera at the rear and a 5-megapixel one at the front with Windows Hello integration.

As for the battery, Techradar reports that HP is saying the Spectre x2 can last up to 8 hours, which will allow people to use it for a day's worth of work. And with a fast charging that allows the 2-in-1 device to go from zero to 50 percent in just 30 minutes, the Spectre x2 is an ideal laptop to have while traveling.
