A lot of people choose to personalize their stuff, and nobody can really blame them. With a lot of cool stickers and skins around, looking cool has never been easier, but personalizing your "Nintendo Switch" may not be a very good idea.

A couple of sticker companies have spoken out to warn users against applying stickers or vinyl to your console and controllers. Reports say that the "Nintendo Switch" is designed in a way which does not play well with adhesive.

According to Polygon, owners may want to refrain from decorating their consoles. Dbrand, a manufacturer of skins for consumer electronics like phones, laptops and video game consoles, warned that applying these skins to your "Nintendo Switch" and its Joy-Con controllers can cause surface damage.

In a series of tweets, the company indicated that it tested a few options with a pre-released console and a retail model, and they found that its screen-printed coating has peeling issues, Engadget reported. Dbrand added that after removing the skin, it was obvious that the coating on the JoyCons "do not play well with any kind of adhesive."

There are now refunding customers who have pre-ordered Switch skins and warned owners that both the JoyCons and the console are not compatible with vinyl wraps or any kind of adhesive-backed skin. Nintendo itself sells at least one special edition skin, but it is unclear whether it will cause any issues.

Slickwraps, another adhesive manufacturer, added that they noticed the same issue with "Nintendo Switch". When asked on Twitter, they replied that they are testing over 80 different materials and recording the process. Nintendo has not commented on this issue yet.

Some experts also advised on investing in a screen protector or be especially careful placing the "Nintendo Switch" in its dock because it gets easily scratched. For now, it's best to avoid buying stickers and skins from anyone.
