People have different ways of coping after a breakup--some do (arguably) stupid things, others try something new, and some get on with life and move on. For artist Adam Nawrot, living in a van for a year and living like a nomad was one of the best moves he had made after a breakup. Here's his story.

According to Independent, Nawrot is a filmmaker and photographer from New Jersey. It was a breakup that made him decide to live a nomadic life in 2016. However, it was also a kind of life that he had always wanted to do, so the whole idea of living in a van was a very easy decision to make.

Nawrot, who's also a climber, wanted to continue the tradition of kayakers and climbers who just wanted to live a life chasing an endless summer."I'd always had a fascination with the idea of living in a van, this archetype of the American nomad," he said.

Press From reported that there's actually a growing population of van dwellers in the US, and it's not because they're homeless. A lot of these people choose the nomadic life so they can travel and sleep anywhere they want to.

Nawrot desired for a "rebirth" after he and his girlfriend of five years broke up. That's where the van life all started. The journey started after refurbishing the former NYPD van he bought (he later named in Gnarnia), which took a month because it included a bed, a work area, computers and solar panels.

He had everything he needed in the van--there was was no air conditioning, bathroom, and water supply but it wasn't really a big deal for him if that means living his dreams.

"It was the happiest year of my life, and it was the realisation of all I wanted to do," Nawrot said. 2016 was one of the best years of his life but it's all about to change when he met a girl on his trip who later on became his girlfirend. He's reportedly living a domestic life with her this 2017 but it appears that it's not the end of the van life just yet because it turns out that she's a big fan of Gnarnia.
