A report came out that says Viz Media's Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Kevin Hamric mentions a new season for "'Tokyo Ghoul' coming shortly." But it was actually a misquote as the anime with the new season coming out is "My Hero Academia."

Anime News Network came out with the report about season 3 for the hit anime series coming out this 2017. The website, though, did provide an update about the misquote.

The report said Harmic mentioned about the new season during an interview with the website ICv2. But upon checking the contents of the interview, "My Hero Academia" was the anime that Hamric said will be coming out shortly, along with season 2 of "One Punch Man."

The only mention of "Tokyo Ghoul" in the interview was that the manga was popular among teens, young adults, and adults. Hamric said that the manga was "extremely strong" during the holidays.

As for updates regarding "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3, a Reddit user commented on the "Tokyo Ghoul" Reddit page two months ago that a season 3 for the anime is unlikely to come. This is due to the poor reception that the anime series received from the fans.

Reddit user SuperMika said that the anime series deviated too much from the manga, especially season 2 of the anime. The manga is "far better in terms of story and characters."

She also mentioned that a reboot is unlikely to happen anytime soon, given it rarely happens in the anime and it's usually done after several years later. It's more likely for the producers to make an adaptation of the latest manga "Tokyo Ghoul: re."

But she did say that the upcoming "Tokyo Ghoul" live-adaptation movie is likely to boost the manga sales in Japan. As for the others who ask about the anime series, she recommends reading the manga instead.  Check out "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 2 Episode 12's scene between Kaneki and Hide.
