We've heard since last year that singer-actress Selena Gomez, will be producing a Netflix Series "13 Reasons Why," based on the New York Times bestselling young adult novel by Jay Asher. We also get to know that the show will be released next year, but the exact dates weren't revealed yet.

Australian actress Katherine Langford will play as the titular Hannah Baker who recorded 13 tapes to the people who have contributed to her death before she committed suicide. Dylan Minnette will star as Clay Jensen, the boy who likes Hannah and starts tracking the people who has been receiving the tapes.

A strong production line is involved in the filming for this series. Tom McCarthy will be directing the two first episodes as divulged by the Parent Herald. McCarthy has been acclaimed in directing the award-winning movie, Spotlight. Also parts of his roster are television series Boston Public and Law & Order.

Screen adaptations will be handled by Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Brian Yorkey. Meanwhile, Gomez will exec produce the story with Yorkey, Joy Gorman of Anonymous content, Michael Sugar, Steve Golin, Teefey and Krister Laiblin who will also serve as executive producers of "13 Reasons Why" with Gomez.

Upon finishing the novel, Gomez took "13 Reasons Why," to collaborating with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and Laiblin, to bring it on the big screen. According to IMDB, the duo brought it to Anonymous Content for a screen adaptation.

Other actors include Kate Walsh, starring in the series as Hannah's mom, and with Derek Luke, who will play the part of the school's guidance counselor named Mr. Porter. Brandon Flynn, Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Justin Prentice, Devin Druid, Miles Heizer and Ross Butler will also be starring in the series.

According to Variety, "13 Reasons Why" was on development stage as a feature film of Universal before the announcement of being aired in Netflix as a series.
