Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook, the most remarkable NBA player since Walt "Clyde" Frazier, walked into Okland's Oracle Arena sporting an orange vest with the words "official photographer." The strange choice of attire might be a sly dig against his former teammate Kevin Durant, whose hobby is photography.

Durant's decision to move from Oklahoma City to Golden State resulted to the breakup of the eight-season Durant-Westbrook partnership. So far, it became like the main story of the 2016-17 NBA season. Throughout the summer and early fall, both Westbrook and Durant acted like the long-term couple that has just emerged from a breakup, with one trying to let the world know he's "moved on."

The duo have both previously graced the covers and pages of prestigious publications, implying that they were never that close in the first place: "We had our own cliques that we hung with on the road. Russell had his guys, I had mine," Durant told Rolling Stone. In the same issue, Durant said that he and Westbrook did not communicate during his decision process. On the other hand, Westbrook posted a cupcake photo on his Instagram during the same day of Durant's decision on July 4. It was a shot at his ex-teammate for being a "cupcake", an OKC-locker room slang for a soft player.

There are reports that Durant only informed Westbrook via text that he was leaving. Westbrook took that as a slap to the face because he thought Durant was staying. Durant was also caught saying something about "family" dynamic in Golden State. According to Slate, Durant said: "You hear family a lot. That's just a word sometimes, but this is really a lifestyle here." Westbrook snapped, "That's cute. My job is to worry about what's going on here, we're going to worry about about all the selfish guys we've got over here, apparently."

Moreover, on the day of their game, no one was surprised by the outcome. According to Forbes, the Thunder isn't equipped to challenge the Warriors. The first big showdown of the NBA season resulted to Warriors' victory against Westbrook and Co. with 122-96.
