Early July, Tyler Johnson received an offer of a four-year, $50 million contract with Heat. This caused a stir towards some fans that claimed that Dwyane Wade should have got a larger contract.

In fact, there were a lot of surprising contracts which happened during offseason, but Johnson's was one of the most surprising for two reasons. First, most people don't even know that Tyler Johnson even existed. Second, those who did know who Johnson was knew that he only averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists during the 2015-16 NBA season. Complex adds that "he was a former D-Leaguer who went undrafted out of Fresco State back in 2014 before finally catching on with Miami."

What's interesting is that Johnson was surprised, too. He just assumed he will get $8 million per year if ever he will decide to be handled by a free agency. However, an average of more than $12 million per year? The amount surprised him too much that he threw up twice after learning the news. It's clear that the NBA fans are not only the ones who were shocked.

In an interview with ESPN, Johnson revealed that he totally understood why people were so surprised.

"People were like, 'Who is this guy?' I have to look his name up on Google," he said. "They don't look at me and see $50 million, necessarily."

Even his own girlfriend was stunned to hear about it.

"I kept feeling like someone was going to be like, 'Psych! Just kidding! None of this is real!'" he said.

Before the said contract, Rockets, Kings and Nets are all in pursuit of his services. In fact, Nets already made a good offer that Johnson's girlfriend thought there wasn't any way the Heat would match it. However, the Heat did decide to match the offer.

"By that point, Tyler's teammates had already waved farewell on Twitter. Johnson had already started bookmarking Brooklyn real estate on Zillow.com. Ashley, his fiancée, had even gone online and shipped a box of Nets-branded shirts and pants for their 2-year-old son, Dameon, to their Miami condo."

"Though $50 million appears to be excessive, it actually could end up being a great deal for Miami, especially when Johnson continues to play like he did against the Magic in the Heat's first game of the regular season on Wednesday night," Complex concludes.
