Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking story may just be one of the most horrific crimes to have been done by anyone today. Slightly akin to Hannibal Lecter, Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident is sending chills down readers' spines ever since news of it came out.

According to the Associated Press, Watenpaugh is a California man, and he has been arrested recently after his ex-girlfriend reported to police what he had done - cooking her dog and feeding it to her.

USA Today reports that because of the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking, Watenpaugh was arrested on charges of stalking and animal cruelty on Thursday. On Friday, he remained in jail.

On Sept. 9, Tuesday, Watenpaugh's ex-girlfriend contacted police in Redding, Calif. and told them of the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident. First, she told them she had been a victim of domestic violence and stalking by her 34-year-old then-boyfriend Ryan Eddy Watenpaugh from Pale Cedro.

According to Sgt. Todd Cogle, the unnamed woman said that during their relationship which lasted several months, she had been physically assaulted. The woman also said she suffered bruises and minor abrasions from the assaults. On two occassions, she had also been held against her will while trying to escape.

Police said the turning point was on Aug. 4. Watenpaugh reportedly attacked his ex and she escaped through the back door of her Redding apartment. However, she didn't know that upon her return, the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking revenge story would occur.

According to Cogle, the woman returned to her apartment to find her Pomeranian named "Bear". However, "Bear" had gone missing.

The AP reports that police said the couple briefly reconciled after the incident and Watenpaugh even cooked the woman a meal to make amends.

However, on Sept. 7, according to Cogle, the woman got a text from Watenpaugh asking her how her dog tasted. He referenced the meal he had cooked for her in the text.

The two separated again after the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident. However, Watenpaugh didn't stop sending texts to the woman. According to The Examiner, he continued telling her his plans of what to do with the dog's remains.

The menacing text messages included one of which he told of his plan of returning "Bear's" paws to her, said Cogle.

Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, the woman saw a truck pulling up in front her residence. She told police she saw Watenpaugh walk up to her home and place something near her door. When she opened her front door to see what it was, she found out that the package contained dog paws.

Cogle detailed the woman had also identified the paws as belonging to "Bear", her Pomeranian.

According to USA Today, after the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident, Watenpaugh was arrested Wednesday by the Shasta County Sheriff's Department.

The Examiner reports that at the beginning, the Watenpaugh denied any involvement in the Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident. Later however, Watenpaugh confessed and even sent further messages to his ex admitting it was him that left the dog paws at her front door. He denied claims that the paws were his ex's pet.

Watenpaugh's home was searched, and investigators and deputies found a Romanian variant AK-47 assault rifle and multiple high-capacity magazines, according to USA Today.

Ryan Watenpaugh dog cooking incident had the man booked on charges of animal cruelty, domestic violence, stalking and false imprisonment. He was also sought on additional charges regarding the weapons violations. Watenpaugh is currently in jail pending $250,000 bail.
