San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier is making headlines today. However, it's not for passing a new rule in the city, but San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier is making the headlines because of his video throwing dog poop into his neighbor's lawn has gone viral.

The video of San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier features him throwing dog poop into his neighbor's lawn. According to Metro, the San Marino city official has been identified through his neighbor's CCTV. In the CCTV footage of San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier, he was seen walking with his wife along residential Euston Road (map) on return from a trip to a nearby park, when he suddenly threw a bag of dog poop on his neighbour, Philip Lao's lawn.

Before the dog poop throwing incident, the video footage showed Kneier carrying a shopping bag in his left hand and the a small bag of dog feces in his right while walking along Lao's sidewalk. The wife of San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier was by then walking several paces in front of him. She was seen in the video pointing to the walkway which led to Lao's house. After that was when Kneier tossed the dog poop bag onto Lao's property, after which he and his wife continued their stroll.

Even though it was clear that it was San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier who threw the dog poop, Lao called the police and reported the incident.

Living in a wealthy Los Angeles suburb, Kneier was forced to make an embarrassing apology because of what he did. San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier sent an apology letter to Lao, who, according to KTLA, he has clashed with because of a proposed dog park for the area. According to reports, neither of the arguing men owns a dog.

In the letter of apology by San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier, he said that everything was a mistake and that he will not do the dog poop throwing act again. Kneier wrote in the letter:

"Dear Phil, Late in the day this past Saturday, June 7, Liz and I were returning from a walk in Lacy Park when we noticed a bag of dog waste in your west parkway near the lamp post. Rather than leave it or dispose of it properly, I placed it on your side walkway. This was a mistake, for which I apologise. It won't happen again."

In an interview with KTLA, Kneier said that he did not intentionally throw the bag of feces into Lao's property. He reportedly removed the dog poop bag from a lamp post. He said however that tossing the bag onto Lao's lawn was not right. Kneier said, "I should have ... just left it there, but I'm not the type of person to leave things sitting around."

However, Lao said on Monday that he was not satisfied with the letter from San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier as he believes the act to be payback for their past arguments regarding some of Kneier's proposals, which included the dog park construction. Kneier has denied the accusation by Lao.

Lao said, "He thinks that he can just smooth things over. He thinks that he can have the police drop it. But I will pursue it. I'm in touch with a lawyer, and we're thinking of pursuing harassment."

Meanwhile a news release issued Monday afternoon reported that the San Marino Police Department is "considering this matter still under investigation."

San Marino Mayor Dennis Kneier might not be in danger of any charges despite the act as it was also stated in the press release that Lao was not "desirous of prosecution."
