An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Thursday because of an unruly passenger.

According to a police statement from the Phoenix Police Department that was released on Friday, a 21-year-old man was acting out of control on a flight from Los Angeles to Miami. The crew was forced to divert the plane from its original route to Miami and the plane had to make an scheduled stop in Phoenix instead, USA Today reports.

Police learned about an incident on the flight at 12:30 p.m. MST and airport
officers boarded the plane after it landed. The flight landed without incident.
A passenger on the flight posted a video of the incident to YouTube on Friday. The YouTuse user wrote "AA flight 1488 from LAX to MIA had an minor incident with some guy tripping b***s on who knows what."

In the video, the man can be heard screaming and making noises while trying to resist police. Multiple officers forced the man out of the back of the plane.

Another YouTube user commented, "My wife and I were on the Westjet flight to Calgary right beside the plane. We had a great view of them taking this guy off the plane. At one point there were like eight officers trying to hold him down to the stretcher and they were having trouble until they were able to strap him down. At the time we thought he must have been on something (or off something) for this to be happening."

After the man was removed from the flight, the plane continued on its trip to Miami. It appears that the 21-year-old man was taken to a hospital to receive medical attention. It is not clear if the man was on drugs. The man was not booked into jail, so his identity has not been released.
