Dubai is a city in the United Arab Emirates known for extravagance shopping, ultramodern structural planning and an active nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa, an 830m-tall tower, controls the skyscraper-filled skyline. At its foot lies Dubai Fountain, with planes and lights choreographed to music. On man-made islands offshore is Atlantis, the Palm, a resort with water and marine-creature parks.
