"Criminal Minds" season 12 is proving to be eventful for resident nerd Dr. Spencer Reid. After being arrested for murder charges, the brilliant doctor is being held in prison. But time has not stopped for the rest of the BAU as indicated in the past episodes.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the team knew of Reid's innocence but there's nothing they can do with the situation at the moment and just decided to work first on their case. While the rest of the team tackled the case of cars which they believed to have been hacked, Prentiss tried to help Reid.

Since Reid was being denied legal aid and did not have much money, Prentiss asked an old friend, Fiona Duncan, to represent Reid. But Duncan was also having a hard time believing his innocence once she reviewed all the evidence of the case. He admitted to buying the drugs for his mother, but when she met him, he was able to convince her to represent him.

While the team was successful in getting their unsub, Reid was denied bail by the judge handling his case. His lawyer Fiona initially wanted him to plead guilty, as his prints and blood were found on the murder weapon. But Reid is adamant to prove his innocence.

Carter Matt maintains that although Spencer Reid is a focus of the coming episodes of "Criminal Minds," crimes does not sleep. The next episode, entitled "Alpha Male" will deal with some young men and women who become victims of acid attacks.

Although many believe that Reid would be able to get out of jail, given that he is one of the main characters of "Criminal Minds" season 12, there's also no telling what kind of trauma he might experience while in jail.
