Virgin Atlantic has announced they will collaborate with designer, Vivienne Westwood for their new uniforms.

The British designer, known for her high-end punk rock aesthetic will design the Virgin Atlantic two peice for both men and women.

CNN.com reported that Westwood will be using eco-friendly, recycled fabrics to create the new uniforms that will outfit their 7,500 crew members.

The official announcement said that Westwood would be going for "A futuristic look, which references her enduring interest in 1940s French couture cutting techniques as well as the Savile Row tailoring heritage."

Westwood will also be designing a selection of bags for the ground staff using eco-friendly materials such as recycled brass and roadside banners.

Virgin CEO Richard Branson said, "When we were choosing the designer for this project, we wanted to work with a group of people who share our spirit of adventure, who believe in challenging the status quo and creating something truly memorable."

The new outfits will be used starting in 2014. The attendants unfirom will remain red and have a feminine, tailored silhouette. The suit has a jacket with a cinched waist along with a pencil skirt with a double pleated backside.

The Telegraph reported that men's suits will be three-piece in a burgundy wool with grey wool detailing.

 "My clothes have always got a very strong dynamic rapport with the body - they are very body conscious, they help you to look glamorous, more hourglass, more woman," said Westwood. To The Telegraph. "I design things to help people to hopefully express their personality."

"I am always trying to find fabrics that are more friendly to the environment - working with Virgin Atlantic they managed to research this and find more eco fabrics," she added.

The outfits will be used on staff as a trial starting in July to gather feedback.
