It is said that in 1696, Gonbei, a native of Hamamatsu (present-day Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture) in the Far-English country, was a famous lord in this area and called it "Hamamatsu-cho". The name "Daimon" refers to the "Old Main Gate" of Zenkeiji Temple, and the red arch that stands at the crossroads can be seen when you walk out of Daimon Station in the direction of Zenkeiji Temple.
