Fans of the lovely couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were dismayed when the couple filed for divorce on Thursday. The couple announced their decision to divorce in 2015 but lived in the same compound to share parenting duties with their three children. What caused the couple to defer the filing?

Fans were hoping that the "Batman" star and the actress behind "Miracles from Heaven" will reunite and start anew in their marriage. Recently, they were spotted happily spending time together that even fired speculations that they have given their union a second chance.

E! News reported that Garner has been planning to file the divorce papers and the actor agreed with it. She gave him the chance to finish his rehabilitation and live in a healthy environment. Now they have decided to take the next step.

Fox News reported that both of them filed divorce petitions in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Regarding their three children - Seraphina, Violet, and Samuel, the couple will remain as co-parents with joint custody. The reason for the divorce was stated as irreconcilable differences. Both did not state the date of separation.

The now ex-couple has stated that they move forward in friendship and with love for one another. They are committed to co-parenting their children. It can be recalled that Affleck credited his former wife for her parenting skills and he trusted her instinct in caring for the kids.

The actors met on the set of "Daredevil," in 2003, got married in 2005 and after 10 years of being together, decided to part ways. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner's divorce will physically separate them but as parents, they are forever bound to each other. The only consolation for the loyal Ben-Jen shippers is that they remain friends and their love and respect for each other remain intact.
