Ben Affleck revealed in a social media post that his struggle from his chronic alcohol addiction has come to an end. The father of three opened up that he privately entered a rehab facility and he successfully completed the program.

In an Instagram post, Affleck, 44, thanked his family and friends and especially mentioned his ex-wife and co-parent, Jennifer Garner. The "Batman" actor expressed his gratefulness to the "Miracles from Heaven" actress for supporting him and taking care of their children during his absence.

The "The Accountant" star said that he has completed treatment for alcohol addiction which he has dealt in the past and will continue to face. He revealed that he wants to live a full life and be the best father. Affleck wants to let his kids know that it is okay to seek help and to provide strength for those who fear in making the first step. His treatment is only the first step towards a full deliverance.

E! News reported that he has been struggling with his alcohol addiction for years and recently got the determination to put an end to it totally. Entertainment Tonight shared that the "Gone Girl" actor had his first taste with alcohol when his parents separated. His father was living on alcohol all his days but he was able to redeem his life. Having an alcoholic father has instilled in him a desire to drink.

When he was 24, his close pals Matt Damon and his brother Casey Affleck helped him to stop drinking. However, the alcohol demon pulled him back when he became famous and had high-profile relationships with Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow. He experienced his first rehab stint in 2001. His good friend Charlie Sheen drove him to Malibu to undergo a rehabilitation program for 30 days.

In 2004, he married Jennifer Garner. She was a positive influence on him. His colleagues noticed a big change in him. Together, the celebrity couple had three children. However, they separated in 2015.

The separation has pulled the trigger for his return to alcohol. Despite having his family living with him in one compound, his wife supporting and effectively co-parenting with him, the lure of alcohol was hard to resist.

Then two days ago, he announced the completion of his treatment which was positively credited to him. Many have praised his efforts and his courage to reveal his struggles.

Ben Affleck is now a free man but his freedom was not gained without sacrifice. He hopes to become the best person he can be. Hopefully, this will also begin the healing process of his marriage. After all, Jennifer Garner has been with him through all his battles.
