Passing the torch to the next generation is something that's not commonly seen in the anime scene, but the "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations" anime seems to be about that. There is one anime that has that kind of storyline and its "My Hero Academia," which is already in season 2.

According to a report from Crunchyroll, the narrative of passing the torch has been "a relatively new phenomenon" in the mainstream shonen manga (a manga that's aimed at a young male audience). "Dragon Ball" never really tried it with Goku to Gohan and "One Piece's" Luffy didn't really get the passing of the torch from "Shanks," as the Straw Hat Pirates matured on their own without any guidance from Shanks and his crew.

Marvel and DC are even trying their hand on the passing of the torch approach, with The Flash Barry Allen and Kid Flash Wally West of DC, and Ironheart Riri Williams getting mentored by Iron Man Tony Stark. One shonen that's trying it is "Boruto," where the main character gets a passing of the torch from his father Naruto and his mentor Sasuke.

ComicBook reports that fans had a lot of expectation with the "Boruto" considering it's like a sequel to the popular "Naruto," a manga about a ninja kid who wanted to become a Hokage (a powerful ninja and a leader of a village) when he grows up. Boruto is the main character of the new series and the son of Naruto.

The report said that first episode of the series was able to blow away fans expectations, as not only was Boruto featured, the children of the other characters of the "Naruto" series was also featured. But when it comes to the passing of the torch narrative, "My Hero Academia" takes the cake.

Crunchyroll reports that "My Hero Academia" has been a source of inspiration about passing down wisdom, techniques, and even dreams to the younger generation. The series focuses on young kids with superpowers being trained and nurtured in a school that's catered for them.

The school is being run by superpowered teachers who not only imparts knowledge, ethics, and information to their students in their journey to become heroes but also ideals, hopes, and dreams for the future as well.
