A third generation Apple watch is set to be launched by Apple this year. The supposed "Apple Watch Series 3" is expected to arrive within the third or fourth quarter of 2017.

Apple fans will be much delighted with this news as details about the new "Apple Watch Series 3" are coming out. Aside from the latest design, Apple patrons are excited about what new features the upcoming watch could offer them. Compal Electronics is reported to be included in Apple's supply chain and will start the products shipment in the second half of this year. Digitimes' sources in Asia, confirmed this.

However, "Apple Watch Series 3" is not Compal's responsibility but they will focus mainly on manufacturing a portion of the second-generation Apple Watch and Quanta Computer. Apple is more likely to sell Series 2 together with its Series 3 watches. Just like what the company is currently doing. Series 1 and Series 2 of the Apple Watch are both available in the market.

Presently, Quanta Computer is the only Apple Watch manufacturer for this year. With this fact, it is only the Taiwan-based company who will have all the orders for Apple Watch 3. Last year, Apple shipped approximately 12 million Apple Watches and according to Canalys, a research firm, this volume is enough to command practically 50 percent of the smartwatch market.

Although Digitimes did not mention anything about the features of "Apple Watch Series 3," but it is expected for Apple to provide a next generation wearable with a better overall performance that includes improvement on speed and an extended battery life. It might also feature LTE support and if this rumor is true, it will be the first for the Watch series to have. The unveiling of the "Apple Watch Series 3" is said to be alongside with the "iPhone 8" in September, this year, according to BGR.
