Niantic announced that Pokemon Go's Water Festival may bid its goodbye soon to their fans but it does not mean that those Shiny Magikarp are going away. This is to give way to an Easter event that would probably take place soon.

Pokemon Go catchers can still find Shiny Magikarp and Gyarados even though the Water Festival is about to end. Niantic confirmed this in a post. They assure fans that shiny variants are still out there. Catchers are still advised to keep an eye out to find them.

Due to the coming end of Water Festival, unfortunately, it will be more difficult to catch Magikarp and the likes unless catchers are doing the Pokemon hunt near a stretch of water. Another unfortunate thing is the slimmer chance of catching the Shiny one. This chance, in a regular Pokemon game is like one out of every 4,096 encounters.

After the Water Festival, Niantic will be focused on another in-game event. The next event's date and theme are still a mystery at this moment but since the Shiny Pokemon have been introduced, this gives Niantic a variety of opportunities to keep their fans hooked in the game, says Express.

During an event, releasing of a new Shiny Pokemon could be made and better chances for players to catch it is by increasing the spawn rate of that certain Pokemon, just like what Water Festival had. Mini-festivals like the Water Festival and the upcoming Easter event fill in the gaps between the big updates like Gen 2 drop.

According to a tweet from Niantic, Pokemon Go is being updated to version 0.59.2 for Android and with minor bug fixes. New UI bugs and game crashes seem to be introduced in 0.59.1, that is why 0.59.2 version is quickly released after. Though the update is already available, some fans are not satisfied, therefore it may require another update.

Niantic is more likely to hold an event this April 16, coinciding with the Easter Sunday celebration. With this occasion, the theme of the event is pretty much about Easter egg hunt, although nothing yet is confirmed.
