It seems like the "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date has been confirmed to be on October 3, 2017 by a retailer. But the confirmed date was backtracked later on, with the retailer saying it was actually a mistake.

According to a report from GameRant, a Polish retailer named Media Markt was the one that listed the October 3 release date. It was first discovered by Reddit users, noticing that the retailer already put the release date of the game.

When asked further, the store confirmed that it was the distributor of "Red Dead Redemption 2" who said the game will be released in October. The date was given to the retailer so they could post it on the game's pre-order page.

The report said that Rockstar Games, the developer of "Red Dead Redemption 2," has been generally sticking to a Fall 2017 release date for the game. October would then be in line with developers target release date.

However, a PR representative for Media Markt, Wioletta Batóg, later backtracked on the supposed confirmed date of release. PCGamesN reported that Batóg apologized for the mistake about the game's release date.

"The October date was incorrectly entered by the person responsible for the product description," said Batóg. She added that they are expecting the game to come out this year, so they're changing the release date to December 31, 2017.

GameRant said that Rockstar and 2K have actually been secretive about "Red Dead Redemption 2." After the first trailer for the game was released, no other news about it came out.

But since the game has already been in development, leaks have been coming out lately. And these are potential details that Rockstar doesn't want fans to know just yet. Some of the leaks hint at the story of the game, with a resume of actor Matt Bradford leaking that he played the character Dutch in the game.

But with the game scheduled to come out this year, more details about it will likely start to come out in the next few months. Check out the trailer for "Red Dead Redemption 2" in the video below.
