Blizzard is planning to remaster one of its iconic games in the late 90's, "StarCraft" and "StarCraft: Brood Wars." The new game will be titled "Starcraft: Remastered," which is targeted for a summer release, and will have a better and crispier graphics. According to a report from Polygon, the announcement was made by Mike Morhaime, the president of Blizzard, during their event in South Korea. Morhaime said that they want to modernize the iconic game.

"StarCraft" is a pure distillation of Blizzard's DNA - its story, its balance, and all the little details reflect our long-running commitment to epic entertainment," he said. He adds that "StarCraft" has also been a staple for 20 years when it comes to e-sports and competitive gaming.

Morhaime adds that they will be modernizing the "original game's visuals, audio, and online support." This modernization plan will help players enjoy the game more for "another 20 years and beyond."

The report said that "StarCraft: Remastered" will be having support for "4K UHD" resolution. This would make the game's visuals crispier, allowing the players to zoom in to see a Mutalisk in details and to zoom out to see the Battlecruiser's view.

The game's original dialogue and soundtrack will be improved as well, together with between-mission briefings. When it comes to actual gameplay, things will likely stay the same.

Screen Rant reported that "StarCraft: Remastered" will still adhere to the original game's timing and gameplay structures. This is considered a good thing, as these features are one of the reasons the game has been one of the most influential in its genre.

The release date for "StarCraft: Remastered" has been put at Summer, which the report said possibly meant Summer of 2017. Though not many details are provided, if the game will be released this Summer, Blizzard will likely come out with more information about the game in the coming weeks.
