Capcom is releasing a physical and digital edition of "Resident Evil: Revelations" to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, marking the 6th and 7th platform that the game will go to. The target date for the release of the said games would be in fall this year.

According to a report from Polygon, Capcom made the announcement via Twitter and the two editions of the game will be available in the North America and Europe. The game was originally released in 2012 for the Nintendo 3DS.

But in 2013, Capcom decided to make the game available to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, the Wii U, and Windows PC. The game was in released in high definition ports for these platforms, with the PC version also getting the difficulty mode, new playable characters, and more.

"Resident Evil: Revelations" is set between the events of "Resident Evil 4" and "Resident Evil 5." It follows the story of franchise stars Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield. The players would find themselves inside the Queen Zenobia, an abandoned cruise ship, and a city called Terragrigia.

In the city, they uncover a truth about the T-Abyss virus and tries to stop a terrorist group from infecting the ocean. GameRant said that the 3DS version of the game was warmly received by critics due to the game's use of the 3DS controls and tech.

The HD version of the game, though, for other platforms didn't get the same warm welcome. Capcom didn't mention if there will be new features for "Resident Evil: Revelations," but the report mentions adding 4K or HDR support for the PlayStation 4 Pro or Project Scorpio would be a great addition.

It's not clear why Capcom will be making the game available to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but GameRant is speculating that the company wants to ride on the success that "Resident Evil 7" bought to the franchise. The latest game has somehow reinvigorated the franchise early this year after it struggled to keep fans happy. Check out the gameplay for "Resident Evil: Revelations" in the video below.
