Fans of the "One Piece" anime series will have to say goodbye to watching it on Toonami, as the TV network will be replacing the series with "Tokyo Ghoul." The reason for this is the low ratings of the anime series and its slow moving arcs.

According to a report from ComicBook, the TV network confirmed the replacement on Facebook with a video tribute. Toonami said that "One Piece" will be removed from its regular programming schedule on March 25 and will immediately be replaced by "Tokyo Ghoul" on the same day.

This marks the end of one of Toonami's long-running program. The report said that "One Piece" debuted on the TV network years ago with episode 207, where millions of fans tuned in.

The anime series' number of viewers, though, has been slowly but steadily declining, which led to low ratings for the network. The TV network has pushed the series back, especially after it started airing anime such as "Dragon Ball Super" and "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE: 0096" to provide some spice to its lineup of shows.

Goboiano reports that the co-creator and producer of Toonami, Jason DeMarco, took to Twitter to share in the fans grief of seeing "One Piece" leave the network. He said, though, that a decision has to be made.

Toonami will now be pinning its hope of getting viewers back to "Tokyo Ghoul," who has far less content than "One Piece" with only two seasons. The anime series is a hybrid horror-thriller that's based on Shu Ishida's "Tokyo Ghoul" manga.

It follows the story of Ken Kaneki, who became a half-ghoul and consumes human flesh to survive after a date went wrong. Kaneki tries to keep his identity secret from his friends in the human world and control his hunger for flesh, while he tries to fit in the world of ghoul society.
