In January, ASUS rolled out the  Android 7.0 Nougat update to their "ZenFone 3" devices, but it was quickly stopped. The reason is because there were some bugs that needed to be fixed. Two months after, ASUS is back to rolling out the update to two of its "ZenFone 3" - the ZE520KL and ZE552KL.

According to Android Police, the variants that are getting the Nougat update are the 5.2- and 5.5-inch versions. The announcement was made on ASUS' ZenTalk forum, and the release notes said that there are a few tweaks to the ASUS build beyond the Nougat upgrade, which includes improved touch performance and those redundant apps like Asus Share and PC Suite will be no more.

Also, the Ringtones and Notifications volume bar will now be split into respective volume bars for ringtones and notifications in the Volume Panel and Sound & Vibration Settings. This is to provide more control over sound settings.

There will be UI tweaks as well, for better usability. ASUS mentioned that for users who prefer the Easy mode, a Launcher app menu will show up on the screen after the Android 7.0 Nougat. You will then have to select the default launcher again.

To get the update, make sure that you would need at least 1.5GB of free space. When updating, make sure that you have at least 50 percent of battery, and you should be connected to a stable WiFi connection.

Phone Arena said that the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the two "ZenFone 3" variants are pushed OTA, the rollout should be completed in about a week. Owners should also manually check for the update if they don't get it within a week or so. To do this, just go to the Settings menu on your phone. No manual download for this update has been reported to be available yet.
