Rockstar Games’ first "Red Dead Redemption" was well-received by fans because at one point in the game, it produced a zombie-themed DLC with a dedicated campaign called The Undead Nightmare. There are recent reports that the next installment, “Red Dead Redemption 2” would most likely explore on this expansion.

Among the favorite picks for the features of the upcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2” is the Undead Nightmare DLC. During its previous release, the DLC was dubbed as one of the best DLC of the year on its original release date on PS3 and Xbox.

"Red Dead Redemption" Undead Nightmare DLC  is an expansion pack released in 2010. It is a standalone episode that introduced a zombie horror-themed single-player campaign, and two multiplayer modes. The DLC featured scary cosmetic additions to the environments and characters of the Western action adventure game.

The alternative timeline story is about the former outlaw and protagonist John Marston, seeking to find the cure and cause for a zombie plague that has infected both his wife and son. In this expansion, our hero frees the towns that are infested by the undead and helps other non-playable characters with missions along the way.

In the upcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2,” it could be possible for the Undead Nightmare DLC, if it gets included, to be an outright prequel to Undead Nightmare. That is if indeed speculations about Rockstar’s upcoming game is true to be a prequel. In this case, “RDR2” could explore on unveiling the backstory of the Aztec Mask. It can be recalled that in the previous game, the removal of the jade mask of Ayauhteotl from the catacombs in Escalera, caused the outbreak.

Rockstar has a reputation of rolling out impressive expansion content. The studio’s previous masterpieces on "GTA IV" expansions namely Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned, are loud testaments of their genius. The two expansions gave players a feeling that they are both completely new games on their own in spite of being a DLC. As to what Rockstar is preparing for its upcoming “Red Dead Redemption 2” is still a mystery. It is best to wait and see until Fall 2017.
