North American fans of the hit manga series "Death Note" won't have to wait anymore for a preview as the teaser for Netflix's live-action adaptation movie is coming soon, director Adam Wingard said. The director adds that the film is already in its final stages of editing and might get a release next year.

According to a report from ComicBook, Wingard revealed the news about the teaser on Twitter with a hand-drawn picture of jumbled-up letters. The disoriented letters are not that hard to decipher reveal the director's message.

The written note in the tweet reads "'Death Note' teaser coming soon! Stop asking." Wingard, though, didn't reveal more details as to when that teaser would be coming out, so fans are still left wondering when that "soon" will be.

The report adds that filming for the live-action adaptation ended last August. Nat Wolff, who is well known for the 2007 hit TV show "The Naked Brothers Band," plays Light Turner in the movie. He is joined by Willem Dafoe, who voices the character Ryuk.

The original "Death Note" manga follows the story of Light Yagami, a brilliant high school student who stumbles upon a notebook that was a rogue Shinigami death god dropped. The notebook has a special ability in that any human written on it instantly dies, which prompts Light to use it to rid the world of evil.

The report said that the problem, though, is that Light becomes "intoxicated" with the power of the notebook and he begins killing people who he feels are unworthy. In an interview with ComicBook last February 1, 2017, Wingard mentions that he is already in the last stages of editing the movie.

Writer Simon Barrett, Wingard's partner in the "Blair Witch" 2016 movie, said that "Death Note" is expected to come out in 2018. Check out the best moments of the anime series of the "Death Note" in the video below.
