Delta Airlines, the leading airline industry in app technology, just released their newly updated Fly Delta app, giving their customers more convenient access to flight information, airport wayfinding maps, and other cool new features.

Some newly updated features include interactive maps for 20 major airports. They are ATL, BOS, CVG, DCA, DTW, JFK, LAX, LGA, LHR, MCO, MSP, NRT, SEA, SFO and SLC. Basically, when the user accesses the wayfinding map in an airport, the app will give them turn-by-turn directions to the baggage claim, arrival gate, and even nearby restaurants. This way, the passengers will save time searching their bearings in the airport, especially in one they haven't been in yet.

The updated app now also offers 3D Touch quick actions on the home screen app icon so that passengers can instantly book flights, check travel status or check in in their upcoming flight. According to Delta's website: "it's also the only airline app to access airport maps on iPhone via their boarding pass Phone via their boarding pass by touching the departure city code, arrival city code or gate numbers, and through My Trips, Flight Status and the 'More' section."

These cool new features is made possible by Delta's collaboration with LocusLabs, a travel-focused tech startup that helped Delta innovate their wayfinding map functionality in ways not possible before. The app is able to figure out the passenger's exact location when clicking the app, therefore offering the passengers a turn-by-turn navigation process based on their location in the airport.

Rhonda Crawford, Delta's Vice President-Global Distribution & Digital Strategy, said in a statement: "Delta's airport maps are another customer experience differentiator. We went beyond the industry standard to fully integrate maps into the boarding pass and other parts of our app experience. We are trying to anticipate when customers may want or need to use a map and provide an easy and intuitive way to do that - whether to find a Sky Club, a gate or a cup of coffee."

The new Delta app features are now available for iPhone users only. Android users can access the update this coming spring 2017.
