The second half of "The Walking Dead" season 7 will premiere this Sunday and it is expected to feel much different than the rather oppressed first half that left many viewers feeling polarized about the show. The show had been experiencing a bit of a slump in ratings last season, so viewers are hoping that the second half of season 7 can help bring the show back to its former glory.

The show's producer Greg Nicotero recently sat down with TVGuide where he picked out his favorite episode from season 7 and offered an update on Carol (Melissa McBride). In the interview, Nicotero mentions how the midseason finale ended with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group all back together again despite losing some of their most beloved members.

He also pointed out how Rick, his group, and the rest of the community in Alexandria all came to the realization that they needed to work and fight as one if they wish to survive. "That was just a small part of the lesson that I think he's now realizing, which is, it's not just my small community that needs to survive, it's every community. So he's in recruitment mode, he's in full recruitment mode", said Nicotero.

Trailers for the second half of "The Walking Dead" season 7 have shown Rick rallying his troops as he prepares to go to war against Negan and the Saviours, so Greg Nicotero's comments make it more obvious that the second half of this season will see Rick attempt to take down Negan for good. Nicotero also hinted on some possible groups that Rick will come into contact with and are not in the comic. The show has been known to deviate from the plot of the comic book series from time to time which only adds more to the suspense since fans of the comic will have no idea what to expect.

Fans are also wondering if fan-favorite Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will ever be romantically involved with some in the show. While not much is known about who Daryl's potential love interest will be besides his crossbow, some fans are speculating that sparks could fly between him and Jesus (Tom Payne). However, in a recent report by US Magazine, Nicotero was quick to shut down these theories about Daryl and Jesus becoming romantically linked for some odd reason.
