There is less than a week left before the second half of the mid-season of AMC's "The Walking Dead" season 7 gets underway, and the latest trailer is helping build up the hype. In the new trailer, we are given a look back at many of the significant events that took place during the first half of the season and what we can expect moving forward.

Rick and his allies have been put through hell and back by the sadistic Negan, but the latest trailer shows him building up an army as he attempts to fight back against the Saviors. In the mid-season finale, Rick was seen trying to reassemble his fractured group, and based on the latest trailer it can be seen that he is already enlisting the services of other nearby communities, including The Kingdom and the Hilltop Colony.

In the first half of the season, Rick and his group were left physically and emotionally broken by Negan and the Saviors, who killed Glenn and Abraham. He basically forced Rick to fall under his will, seemingly crushing his spirit in the process. According to the synopsis posted on IGN, Rick and his group will be focusing their energy towards building an army and amassing resources to take down Negan once and for all. However, they will also come to find out that defeating Negan will not be as easy as it sounds.

At the end of the trailer, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) shows up saying: "What we're building towards the end of seven is Rick trying to emerge and find himself again, and Negan is still there with a big smile on his face, waiting." Based on these comments, Rick and the gang are going to be facing their toughest adversary yet.

Rick is desperate to put Negan down for good and he is even seen practically begging King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) to help him in the potential war with the Saviors. "The Walking Dead" returns on February 12 on AMC. According to the Independent, fans in the U.K. can catch the midseason premiere the following night at 9pm.
